Furniture built from New York's own hills.
We design and hand-build furniture, millwork, and live-edge pieces from timber sourced across the Hudson Valley — delivered and installed throughout the five boroughs.
A workshop, not a warehouse.
The Wooded Hill started in a one-car garage in Long Island City with a single table saw and a stack of reclaimed oak. Today we're a small studio of joiners and finishers who still build every piece to order, by hand, a short drive from the timber we mill it from.
We work directly with sawmills in the Catskills and the Hudson Valley, choosing boards the way a chef chooses produce — by grain, by weight, by how the light moves across it. Nothing leaves the shop until someone who'll put their name on it has run a hand over every edge.
From standing tree to finished piece.
Every commission moves through the same four stages, whether it's a single side table or a full built-in wall.
Source
We select boards ourselves from Hudson Valley sawmills, matched to the piece's size, grain, and character.
Mill & Dry
Lumber is slab-cut and kiln-dried in-house so it stays stable through New York's humid summers and dry winters.
Build
Joinery is cut and fitted by hand on our shop floor — no CNC shortcuts on anything with your name on it.
Finish & Deliver
A hand-rubbed oil or hardwax finish, then delivery and on-site setup anywhere in the city or the Valley.
Four ways to work with the shop.
Custom Furniture
Dining tables, desks, benches, and case pieces, sized and built for the room they'll live in.
Millwork & Built-Ins
Bookcases, window seats, and floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, fitted on site by our own installers.
Live-Edge Slabs
One-of-a-kind walnut, maple, and elm slabs, book-matched and finished for tables and counters.
Restoration & Repair
Regluing, refinishing, and structural repair for heirloom furniture and pre-war apartment fixtures.

Replace these with real photos of your own commissions as you complete them — the placeholders below just hold their spot.

"The table they built fits our kitchen exactly — down to the leaf that folds around the radiator. It's the first piece of furniture we've owned that felt made for us."
"They rebuilt the built-ins in our pre-war apartment without touching the original moldings. You genuinely can't tell where the old work ends and the new begins."
Common questions.
Most custom pieces take 6–10 weeks from approved design to delivery, depending on the wood and finish. Built-ins and larger commissions can run longer — we'll give you a firm timeline once we've seen the space.
Yes. For live-edge and feature pieces, we'll send photos of a few candidate boards from our supplier, or you're welcome to visit the shop and pick one in person.
We regularly deliver and install throughout the Hudson Valley, Westchester County, and Long Island in addition to all five boroughs. Reach out with your zip code and we'll confirm.
We ask for a 50% deposit to begin sourcing material and start the build, with the balance due on completion, before delivery.
Every piece we build carries a five-year warranty against structural defects in the joinery. Finish touch-ups are available afterward at a modest fee.
